Spring is as dark as it is light. There are as many frigid nights left to endure as there are sun soaked afternoons to enjoy ahead. We’re moving through an equinox season. It’s a balancing act.
We experience two equinoxes every year, at March & September, which mark the midway points between our two solstice days that occur in June & December.
I don’t remember when exactly, but at some point in time I began making a more mindful effort to notice the subtle changes each equinox season brought. You catch them here & there. Walking through the supermarket parking lot. Washing dishes while gazing out a window. Filling the car with gas. You look up & around...
Suddenly it isn’t quite winter anymore, and the idea of summer is still far off, but something else is happening - and if you lit a cinnamon candle on a cool night near the April Full Moon, I’d believe it was the last day of September.
The yearning for mild days and the look and feel of Spring is as natural to man as March begins to merge with April as is the urge of a migrating bird to fly north. That is why we watch hopefully for the big signs and make so much of the little ones. We see a crocus clump in full bloom at last and exclaim over it as though it were a whole garden of flowers. We see half a dozen early bees gathering pollen in the purple chalices and want the honey smell of clover blossoms to be here tomorrow.
{Excerpt From “The Interim” by Hal Borland - March 30th, 1958}
I’ve even found myself gushing over those magical purple flowers exactly as Hal describes in the above excerpt - which was written over 50 years ago! How timeless our shared experience of nature is.
The light shifts, the temperature fluctuates, dinner recipes change, coats turn to hoodies, and altars are spruced. Redecorating isn’t just redecorating in my mind. It’s an opportunity to reinvigorate your home & hearth! It’s a way to create sacred spaces with love, and practice acceptance of the impermanent. Nothing lasts forever, and every iteration of the kitchen table centerpiece is different than the year before, but some things remain the same ~

I don’t see Spring as exclusively floral, so its creations are a bit dreamier, and maybe even a bit more unique than the usual scents of the season. I see each candle as an old friend, and as soon as I start pouring batches of wax, the room swirls with past memories & future daydreams.
Here are the seasonal fragrances by collection:
Nature’s Magic:
Vernal Equinox is a refreshing and fruity fragrance with notes of red currant, orange, and pomegranate.
Sacred Gardens has a peaceful but vibrant blend of lemongrass, jasmine, and patchouli.
Luna, one of my first original fragrances, features a comforting blend of lavender, bergamot, and coconut.
Enchanted Cauldrons:
Garden Tonic brings the outdoors indoors with notes of garden mint and white oak, floating on a layer of warm vanilla.
Lemon Elixir is another classic fragrance blend with notes of lemon verbena, lemon balm, and vanilla.
Love, Remembered:
Blackwater Park is an earthy blend of cypress, frankincense, and juniper berries, inspired by Opeth’s 2001 album.
Into The Void has a label that reads “patchouli & leather boots”, and that’s precisely what it smells like, resting on a base of patchouli & cedar oil. This one is inspired by the NIN song of the same name.
If you visit the shop, I do believe you’ll find something inspiring, but if not - thank you for stopping by! New creations are shared with every new quarter of the year, with so much love, so much reverence, and so many eco conscious ingredients :)
It’s a wonderful thing to be able to share this magic with others, and I thank you for reading if you did make it all the way to the end of this log! I’m wishing you warm days ahead & many Spring blessings ~
